ADVENT: Reclaiming Christmas -- Day 3

ADVENT:  Day Three:  “JESUS Brings Great Joy”
Scripture:  “In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.  And an angel of the LORD suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the LORD shone around them; and they were terribly frightened” (Luke 2:8-9).
To Joseph, to the shepherds and to each one of us the Christmas message is the same . . . Don’t be afraid; Christmas is God’s intervention in our lives to bring joy, not fear!
Regardless of what you may be going through at this time in your life it is important that you come to a place where you believe the following:  GOD is Good all the time, GOD loves you, GOD’s promises are true, GOD will never forsake you, GOD’s will is always right, and GOD’s will is always best.  We may not understand everything that’s going on around us but we hang our life on this ultimate truth.

There is a world all around us who are also going through some of the same things you and I are going through but they are striving to do it without belief.  This Christmas season is an opportunity for us to proclaim to broken and hurting people:  “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the LORD” (Luke 2:10-11).
